Oct. 20, 2013

Well! It's been a while. Good to be back. This is D.R. :)

Liturgy was beautiful this morning, as always. It's my fourth week since christmation, so I brought up my candle and stood with my sponsor at Communion again. After this week, I don't have to bring the candle anymore, and I can go up without my sponsor. She is a very nice lady.

They had a bake sale at church today, after services. I got two cupcakes and a little bag of cookies. They look so delicious, I wanted to eat all of them at once. :)

I read Revelation last week. Every time I read it, I get different 'pictures' as to what it would all actually look like. Now that I've reached the end of the Bible, I think I ought to start over again. It helps that I have an audiobook Bible and a regular print one. Helps me fit in more reading than I used to.

Have a good week. Thanks. :)

September 5, 2013

D.R. here. Well! Fall is almost here. It's still pretty hot where I live. My chrismation is coming up later this month. Pretty nervous! Yet I'll be very happy when it is here. Still looking for work. Had some good interviews lately. Reading, or should I say hearing, the Bible almost every day. :) Using the NKJV audio book version from Audible. It's a very dramatic reading with a cast of well-known actors. I try to listen at least a few minutes a day, or a few times a week. It lifts me up when I'm discouraged. I have to fight not to give up sometimes, and keeping up with the Scriptures can make a real difference. I am far from the best at this, but I do try. Thank you.

Aug. 26, 2013

This is D.R. Today is Monday. I am out of a job. I have been for a few weeks now. It's not much fun looking for work, but I do it every day. Here's hoping something picks up soon. Had a pretty good day in church yesterday. Afterwards, I wanted to stay for lunch at the church social hour, but I had to go to lunch with my Mom's cousins. It was fun. We've been having so many thunderstorms lately, even though it's sunny this morning, I wonder if it won't rain by the middle of the day. I never seem to get a chance to take the bike to the park. Also, I could use a new electric wrench. I saw one on TV and I think it'll be the only thing strong enough to take the wheels on and off the bike when I need to fix it. The wrenches we have now don't seem to work, and I don't want to spend half an hour every time waiting for the WD40 to work. I'm doing okay on my summer reading. I have almost three weeks to go in my summer reading project, where I try to beat the number of books I read during school vacation in 1989. Sooo, that'd be 37. And so far I'm almost up to 15. It's probably going to be too much for me, but I did give it a good try. :) See you later. Thanks. :)

June 12, 2013

Hello again. I'm D.R., Keisha's friend. I'm working at a new job, for which I am grateful, but it is very complex so far, and I am not doing well under the stress. I have to work on that. Also, I have to get a new copy of my baptismal certificate. It's good to have one around, just for personal records, so I'll have to write to the church in New York which I used to go to when I lived there. Thanks.

Blogspot is still having problems with its photo posting from your own computer. The uploads just don't start. You have to pick them from a URL instead, i.e. Photobucket. Here is a picture from the visit by the Metropolitan (Archbishop) last week. He blessed the altar servers and tonsured them. I was in the middle of the church, so it's a little hard to see around the people, but the center of events is up at the front. I am supposed to meet my godparents soon. I hope I'll be chrismated before the end of the year. Thanks.

April 20, 2013

Hello, this is Donna. Checking in again. Today was my formal catechumen seminar, at least the first. It has been said, God willing, I may be chrismated a couple months after Easter. I hope so. I am struggling, and I guess I always will, but I want to see what is on the other side of the divide. And hopefully find peace there.

Church was long yesterday. We had Compline, the evening service. There were some kids running around outside in the lobby. I was hoping they'd come in and sit down. Well, maybe tonight. :) There's another Compline today, then Bible study class. I have to remember to read the first six chapters of Isaiah.

Also had an interview today. Very interesting stuff. It was for a dental lab, with a complicated processing system. I don't know what my chances are, but I have to keep trying. I also have a slight chance to go back to my previous job. We'll see which one develops.

This picture is from a trip I took to Fred Howard Park the other day. It was fabulous. The view is from the road leading to the peninsula. :)

Hi. It's Wednesday. Lent is getting a little easier for me. I did eat spring rolls for lunch. They were good. :) Sunny outside. Hope I can get in a walk before the day ends.

March 20, 2013

Hi, everyone. It's Wednesday, March 20. I don't believe how fast the past three months have gone. It's already spring! Here is a link to a video I took while outside with my dog, Keisha. Looky lou. It was filmed right on our block in Port Richey, Florida. :) Had trouble the first couple days of Lent. It's getting a little easier now. Usually it takes me a week or two to stop feeling weird. Listening to the new Pye Corner Audio album now. Also got the new David Bowie. Found a couple of prayerbooks in with my other things. I want to start going back to church. Thanks. :)

Just a little picture of my dog. :) She's so sweet. Did a lot of thinking today. Some of it, wasn't so easy to deal with. I know my problems are small, but sometimes they get stuck, and they just churn away. I did some praying, and I went to the storage center to clean out a couple small boxes and bags. After that, I went to the library and gave them a lot of books. The last thing I did, was go to the gym. :) It was rainy, so it was good to get something positive done. I am hoping I can get some more interviews soon. My job is ending in a couple of weeks, so I applied for unemployment. I hope I can find something soon. And I hope I will be grateful for it. :) Happy St. Patrick's Day! :)

Can't believe they're having a festival this weekend at church. Won't be able to go. I don't know what I think about having two of these a year. If it helps them, though, good. Very depressed today. Trying to lift that up. Will lie down for a while. Maybe some music and reading will help. Also, will pet the dog. Plan to start aggressively looking for work over the next two weeks. It would be great if I can get some interviews before my job actually ends on the 29th.

A bird preserve area at a nearby state park. :)

Hello again. My name is Donna R., also known as D.R. Thank you for reading this blog. I'm Keisha's human, and it's nice of her to let me use the computer sometimes. :) I was going to go to church this morning, but I missed it because of the daylight savings time change. I know, excuses, excuses... Hopefully I'll be smarter about it next week. The weather is not bad today. I have to think about writing a letter to the priest, to get a sponsor for chrismation. That will be a big step. Once it's done, though, I'm sure it will have been worth it. This is my parish. It is a beautiful church, not far from Tampa, Florida. Anyone is welcome to visit, if you want. :) Thanks.

Here is the place I'll be writing about my life in faith and otherwise. Just a place to start.
